Cullinan, M. E., Maison, K., Parks, M. M., Krall, M. A., Krebs, E., Mann, B., & Jensen, R. E. (2022). “Seedlings in the Corporate Forest: Communicating Benevolent Sexism in Dow’s First Internal Affirmative-Action Campaign.” Management Communication Quarterly. Special thanks to the Science History Institute’s Othmer Library for the Travel Grant that allowed us access to the primary sources we study in this piece, all of which came from the Dow Chemical Historical Collection. This piece explores Dow’s “Know More in ’74” campaign and considers how it may have set a historical script for benevolent sexism in subsequent internal affirmative action campaigns.
