The Department of Communication at the University of Utah was very lucky to host the Health & Environmental Justice in Latina/o/x Communities Colloquium this past Friday. The effort was led by the stupendous Drs. Leandra Hinojosa Hernandez and Andy King. What a treat it was to gather in the Edna Anderson-Taylor Communication Institute, directed by Dr. Sean Lawson, and hear amazing scholars discuss their work in this area (Drs. Sara de los Santos Upton, Amanda Martinez, Yonaira Rivera, Carlos Tarin, Susana Ramírez, and Jennifer Kam).

Gabby Garza, featured below, gave a beautiful talk on the concept of susto in the context of family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border. Thanks so much to all of the colloquium participants for bringing such productive ideas to the table and offering generous mentoring and support to students.
