Last spring, Madison learned that she had been awarded a 2020-2021 Steffensen Cannon Fellowship to support her dissertation research on regulatory rhetoric and the mid-twentieth century thalidomide disaster.

The fellowship was established at the University of Utah in 1989 by Hugh Cannon to honor his mother, Ellen Christina Steffensen Cannon, and support students doing outstanding work in the fields of Education and the Humanities.
